13.6.3 Legal Aspects - Legislation

Legislation in ICT4 is concerned with how legislation is implemented within an organisation. You do, however, need to know what laws relate to ICT and *should* have covered that stuff way back in ICT1. It's probably a pretty good idea round about now to go back and look at all that legislation stuff you slept through last year before tackling this topic.

13.6.3 Practice questions

AQA past papers
Past papers. Not as useful as the Psionica database AQA shamefully closed but...

Practice questions
Past paper practice questions for 13.6 (.rtf file - opens in Word/Writer) suitable for revision/homework etc. etc.
NOTE: It's the same file on all the 13.6.X pages!!! This is a VERY big document 'cos 13.6 often appears as part of the essay question.

Past paper answers
Answers to the questions above. Password protected .doc file. Sorry but the password is only available to teachers. 23 pages long!!!!!

Older Exam Papers
Past papers (pre 2000) not included on the official AQA site from Colchester VI Form College. These still contain some relevant questions for this topic. Look for IT04/ICT4 papers. I think this is dead?

13.6.3 Online Resources

Links to general online resources for 13.6.3. I'd recommend right clicking links/icons and "Save Target As..." for anything other than web pages (see key below)

Information Comissioner's Office
"Good practice notes" page from the ICO. Lots of documents to wade though but contains enough interesting stuff to be worth a look.

Directors Briefing
"Software use and your legal liabilities". Useful document from the BSA (Business Software Alliance) contains some good info about creating a software policy.

Legal Aspects
Nice set of summary revision notes and questions covering all aspects of this topic from Clive E. Morley. The legislation stuff starts on page 18.

Working with VDUs
Guidance from the Health & Safety Executive. Page 5 outlines the employer's responsibilities and is particularly useful for this topic.

FAST
Federation Against Software Theft website. The links under the "Software Piracy" heading are especially useful for this topic.

Rather useful PowerPoint presentation, based on the Heathcote book, from Chris Brown.

Legislation
Set of summary revision notes from the David Yates of KJS fame. This is a useful resource for planning your revision.

Legal Aspects
Set of rather good online revision notes (and questions) for this topic from the rather good Antonine Education.

13.6 Legal Aspects
Summary notes and questions from North Chadderton High School. The specific stuff about legislation starts on page 9.

Legislation Questions
Couple of questions (and textbook references) from Gerard Horsley at B & P College. Useful handout for a homework exercise.

Data Protection Compliance
This rather good ppt is from the University of Bristol's Data Protection Coordinator and covers many of the issues ALL organisations have to address when implementing the DPA.

Legal Aspects
Excellent PowerPoint presentation from the ever-reliable ict-tutor covers all aspects of 13.6. FatMax recommended.

Information Security Policy
From the University of Salford this gives a nice overview about how one organisation ensures compliance with legislation. Would make a nice case study.

Legislation
Couple of older past paper questions on legislation suitable for homeworks, revision, blah de blah de blah.

Disclaimer thingamajig: Help FatMax keep these pages relevant by submitting new links and/or reporting dead links here. FatMax has no association (by any stretch of the imagination) with AQA and only does this spec 'cos they have a nicer logo than OCR. The only vaguely <cough> *reliable* </cough> source of AQA info is www.aqa.org.uk Pics of FatMax looking slightly slimmer than he really is are by master of illusion Adam Kirkton.
