| Based on Steve Longley's Moodle notes this covers basic concepts such as LAN vs WAN and networks vs. stand-alone systems. |
| |
| Definitions of LAN and WAN. Also, looks at the benefits/drawbacks of networks in a school (this has been on a past exam!) |
| Flash notes by Steve Longley. Covers the same stuff as the doc file above but looks nicer! |
| Nice little mini site from Teach-ICT covering the different methods of connecting WANs. Don't know where the LANs come into it?!? |
| Very good PowerPoint from the nice people at OCRICT. Not all relevant but there's some very good stuff in there. |
| Big FAT 7.5MB download!!! Very pretty 90+ pages on current Internet trends. Highly recommended for teachers & students alike. |
| Very short set of notes from the WJEC INSET CD. Might provide a useful introduction to key areas of this topic. |
| Bit of a large download but this doc neatly describes the key points you'll need to know for this topic. |
| Bit dated - it talks about Windows 98! Not really sure this is relevant here. Have a look if you've nothing better to do. |
| Visual representation of who uses the Internet and what they use it for. Might be a nice introduction to this topic. |
| Most of these developments are happening now so a useful article for the "Internet developments" bit of the spec. |
